Meet Esther Baker, Hope Blooms volunteer!
Esther is a joymaker in every sense of the word. She generously shares her time and many gifts to help us bring a sense of belonging and care to our neighbors in need. “Esther brings a true spirit of joy to our work, and we’re so grateful to serve alongside her kind and giving heart,” said Kelly Krenzel, executive director of Hope Blooms.

How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?
I started out volunteering at open events creating bouquets, and then I think I’ve expanded to almost everything! I help out with Petal It Forward deliveries, Flower Empower activities, picking up flowers and cleaning!
What do you love most about Hope Blooms?
The first thing that I noticed was coming into the workspace and just feeling an overwhelming sense of joy. People are so friendly and welcoming. It’s truly a great environment to be in!

What value do you see Hope Blooms bringing to our community?
From a volunteer perspective, it adds purpose back into my daily life. I read about Hope Blooms and wanted to try it out, and it gave me the sense of joy and value. When you have joy and feel like you have a purpose, you are able to share that with others. When we go into communities and are able to talk to residents, I remember how important the small acts of kindness are.
What is your favorite flower?
I love zinnias and gerber daisies. Zinnias are so vibrant, and I love the variety of all the colors, same with gerber daisies!
Anything else you’d like to add?
I love to be outside, and Hope Blooms helps get me out! From April to November, I enjoy spending time at my lake and being outside as much as I can. Getting to be apart of Hope Blooms and volunteer in the summer truly brightens my day!
