Joymaker Spotlight: Cas Duckworth

February 9, 2026 | Written by

Meet Cas Duckworth, Hope Blooms volunteer!

“We’re grateful for the many ways Cas has supported our mission since 2021,” said Kelly Krenzel, executive director at Hope Blooms. “She always shows up with a smile and a willingness to lend an extra hand, beginning as an event lead hosting evening volunteer events and continuing today through her steady weekly flower pickups.” As her life has grown and changed, Cas has remained deeply connected to Hope Blooms by picking up donated flowers from our floral partner Hornbacher’s and delivering them to our shop to be repurposed and shared. Her ongoing commitment is a beautiful reminder that there are many ways to serve and each one helps joy bloom.

Volunteer since: 2021

How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?

I help with weekly flower pickups at Hornbacher’s. I used to be more involved as an event lead, but as my family has grown, this is the way I’m able to stay connected and still make an impact.

What do you love most about Hope Blooms?

I love the joy it creates—for both the recipients and the volunteers. There’s something really special about taking flowers that might otherwise be thrown away and turning them into something that brightens someone’s day.

What value do you see Hope Blooms bringing to our community?
Hope Blooms spreads kindness in a simple but powerful way. It brings people together, gives volunteers a meaningful way to serve and reminds the community that small gestures can make a big difference in someone’s day.
What is your favorite flower?
Peonies are my favorite. They’re cheerful, vibrant, and have a timeless beauty. Every bloom feels like a little celebration, which really fits the spirit of Hope Blooms.
Anything else you’d like to add?

Volunteering with Hope Blooms has been a reminder of the joy in serving others and creating moments of beauty and connection, no matter how small. There are days when I don’t feel like attending an event or even finding the motivation for a pickup, but I always leave the shop happy—it’s impossible not to. Even just picking up flowers each week feels like spreading a little happiness in our community.
