Community Partner Profile: Valley Senior Services

October 21, 2025 | Written by

Since the very beginning of Hope Blooms, our partnership with Valley Senior Services has helped us share smiles and connection with older adults across the community. Through our Meals on Wheels routes and those enjoying lunch at Valley Senior Services’ community dining sites, Hope Blooms has delivered more than 2,000 bouquets of repurposed flowers to seniors being served by Valley Senior Services.

Together, Hope Blooms and Valley Senior Services are creating moments that matter. From a friendly smile at the door to a bouquet delivered alongside a nutritious meal, these small gestures remind seniors that they are seen, valued and deeply cared for in their community.

Tell us about your organization and who you serve?

Valley Senior Services is dedicated to serving adults age 60 and older across our community. We provide a wide range of programs that support healthy, independent living, including congregate dining, Meals on Wheels, Metro Senior Ride transit services, and resource services. Our goal is to ensure older adults not only have access to nutritious meals and reliable transportation but also to meaningful connections that help them thrive independently in their home.

What makes your facility or organization special?

What makes Valley Senior Services unique is our unwavering mission to help seniors maintain their independence while fostering a sense of belonging. Nutritious meals are delivered with care by our wonderful volunteers, and our Metro Senior Ride program provides safe, dependable transportation to appointments, senior centers, and other destinations around town. Beyond these services, it’s the heart and compassion of our staff and volunteers that set us apart. We’re more than a business, we’re a community of support.

What kind of impact do you see Hope Blooms having on your residents/clients/staff?

The impact of Hope Blooms is felt every single week. For many of our seniors, a meal delivery may be the highlight of their day, and when it’s paired with a cheerful bouquet of flowers, it becomes something truly memorable. We see joy, surprise, and gratitude on the faces of our recipients, and it lifts the spirits of our staff and volunteers as well. Hope Blooms adds an extra layer of care that reminds our seniors that they are seen and valued.

We are deeply grateful for our partnership with Hope Blooms. Their thoughtful generosity spreads joy to our clients who need it most, and in doing so, they also uplift our staff and volunteers. Together, we are creating moments of happiness and connection that make a lasting difference in the lives of older adults in our community.

Do you have a favorite memory or story from a flower delivery?

We regularly receive heartfelt phone calls and handwritten notes from seniors who want to share how much the flowers mean to them. While it’s hard to choose just one story, the common thread is always gratitude. Recipients often say the flowers brighten not only their homes but their hearts, serving as a beautiful reminder that someone cares.

What does kindness and connection mean to your organization?

Kindness and connection are at the very core of Valley Senior Services. Every day, more than 55 delivery routes are made possible because of the dedication of our volunteers, who often form lasting friendships with the seniors they serve. These acts of kindness create bonds that go far beyond a simple meal delivery. They foster trust, joy, and a sense of belonging that are essential to healthy aging.

How do small gestures—like flower deliveries—play a role in the wellbeing of those you serve?

Even the smallest gestures can have a profound impact. A colorful bouquet on a kitchen table can turn a quiet day into something special, reminding seniors that they are not alone. These moments of joy can ease loneliness, improve emotional wellbeing, and provide a meaningful boost that carries throughout the day.
