Meg first connected with Hope Blooms through the floral donation process at Cash Wise. Meg decided to get more involved by volunteering her time and talents because she was inspired by the mission and the stories behind every bouquet. She immediately felt connected to the mission of Hope Blooms after volunteering and knew she wanted to be a part of Hope Blooms long-term. Her leadership, strategic thinking, determination and contagious positivity make her an incredible addition to the Hope Blooms team.

Meg ’s passion for serving others, combined with her leadership experience and heart for the community, will help Hope Blooms continue to grow and thrive during this exciting and pivotal season. We’re incredibly grateful to have her join our board and excited to see the impact she will make as she helps us continue bringing light, love and hope to those who need it most.

How are you involved with Hope Blooms?
I serve as a board member and joined in the beginning of May!

Why do you choose to volunteer with Hope Blooms?
The mission is so important to me. Making sure that people know that they matter, especially during hardships and being able to help people feel seen for who they are, not what they’re going through.

Why is giving back in your community important to you?
In my life, I’ve faced challenges and I’ve received support from the community and social programs. I feel like it’s so important to support those that are going through hardships and remind them how strong they are.

What’s your favorite way to spread joy and kindness?
I think it’s all about remembering the small details. For example, one of my coworkers loves Diet Coke, so whenever I know I’m going to see her, I bring a Diet Coke with me. It’s such a small way of letting people know they’re valued and seen, but it works so well. Watching their faces light up when they realize you listened makes it all worth it.

Name one of the most joyful moments in your life.
I love when I’m able to be present. When I actually have time to stop, enjoy a cup of coffee and the sounds of nature, I’m reminded that slowing down is so peaceful and completely needed to function properly.

What is your favorite flower and why?
Ironically, my favorite flower is forget-me-nots! I love the color purple, but I also really love the name. They’re so fun!

In what ways do you see Hope Blooms bringing value to our community?
With the growing elderly population, it’s so easy to get caught up in life and not check in. Hope Blooms prioritizes our elderly population and makes sure to provide some extra joy in their lives. It’s always special to know someone is thinking and supporting you, and how special is it to know a stranger thought of you?!

Share a little about yourself!
I’m originally from Brainerd, MN, and moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area for college. I fell in love with the way our community shows up for one another and decided to stick around! Outside of work, I serve on the United Way Community Impact Committee. In my free time, I love being outside whether it be spending time in my yard, hiking mountain trails or being on the beach, I also spend a lot of time with my 3 pets. I have two Golden Retrievers, Penny and Piper, and one cat named Roger.
