Volunteer Spotlight: Mary Jo Wagar

November 8, 2024 | Written by

Meet Mary Jo Wagar, Hope Blooms Joymaker!

“Mary Jo’s kindness and servant heart shine in everything she does. She is such a bright spot in our day when we get to see her,” said Kelly Krenzel, Hope Blooms founder. “She supports our mission with quiet grace and a heart even more beautiful than the countless garden blooms she so lovingly donates. We’re endlessly grateful for her support.”

Volunteered since: 2022

How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?

I enjoy growing and donating flowers from my garden to Hope Blooms and have helped with Flower Empower events.

What do you love most about Hope Blooms?

I love the sincere enthusiasm of Hope Blooms staff and volunteers and the personal joy they are able to bring to others especially those individuals in local care facilities.

What is your favorite flower and why?

That’s a hard question because I have many favorites depending on the time of the year.  Recently I have been obsessed with dahlias and lisianthus.

What value does Hope Blooms bring to the community?

Hope Blooms is true to its mission and spreads joy, making people’s day a little brighter.  I remember after one of the Flower Empower events when another volunteer told a resident to have a good day, she responded by saying; “now it will be!”.
