Meet Laine Richard, one of Hope Bloom’s dedicated volunteers!

Katie, our Operations Manager, says, “I love watching Laine interact with our bouquet recipients! She has such a kind heart and ease in connecting with everyone she meets. Delivering together is a huge highlight of my week!”

Volunteer since: December 2020

What do you love most about Hope Blooms?

I love bringing joy to the people I come in contact with. My favorite response to the residents, when they ask “Why they are getting flowers?” is “because you are special”. The joy that I see within them warms my heart.

How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?
I help deliver bouquets of flowers to nursing homes and assisted living residents throughout the FM area. I also help with nursing home residents when Hope Blooms provides the flowers and each resident makes their own arrangement (Flower Empower Program).

What is your favorite flower and why?
All flowers bring me joy, but in doing research, sunflowers have become my favorite. I like what it represents. The sunflower can be a symbol of enlightenment, spiritual awakening and personal growth. It’s bright yellow petals and radiant energy are thought to bring positivity and joy into people’s lives.

What value do you find in volunteering with Hope Blooms?
The value is immense. There are a lot of lonely people in the world and if Hope Blooms can bring joy, love and peace for a moment, our mission has been accomplished.
