Meet JoAnn Jacobson, Hope Blooms Joymaker!

Katie, Program & Development Manager, shares “Every interaction with JoAnn is warm and genuine. She has introduced countless people to the Hope Blooms mission over the years and we are so grateful to have her as a longtime volunteer and advocate for our work!”

Volunteered since: April 2022

How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?

The majority of my time with Hope Blooms is spent processing donated flowers on Thursday mornings. I have also been able to deliver bouquets to some facilities and even worked with classes to help residents make bouquets! I don’t want to forget that I bring in jars whenever I find some.

What do you love most about Hope Blooms?

The many ways the flowers provide joy. The most obvious joy is for the people who receive and/or make a bouquet. The flowers brighten their day and let them know just how much they matter.

The joy people don’t automatically think about is the joy this brings to the volunteers. There is joy in helping others, having a purpose to your day, reconnecting with friends you haven’t seen in a long time, and meeting and making new life-long friends!

What is your favorite flower and why?

It is hard for me to choose just one flower. My daughter recently gave me a red eternity rose, so I would have to say a red rose because of the simple beauty, deep color and wonderful fragrance.

What value does Hope Blooms bring to the community?

Hope Blooms touches the hearts of so many people from the recipients to the volunteers and employees. It is important to have an organization that’s purpose is to just bring joy!
