Volunteer Spotlight: Corine Wittmier

March 1, 2024 | Written by

Meet Corine Wittmier, Hope Blooms volunteer!

Katie, our operations and program director, states “Corine is such a ray of sunshine. Whether she is dropping off flowers from Hornbachers or coming out on a bouquet delivery, every interaction she has is so full of joy and positivity. I adore the energy and love she pours into the Hope Blooms mission every week”.

How are you involved with Hope Blooms?
I’m involved in many aspects of the mission. When I first started, I processed and made bouquets, and now I pick up flowers every week at one of our local grocers that donates to Hope Blooms. I also help deliver flowers, when needed, and I write thank you notes to supporters.

Why do you choose to volunteer with Hope Blooms?
I received a Hope Blooms bouquet through a random act of kindness, and it really touched my heart. I volunteer because I love the mission, the people, and the joy I get from interacting with Hope Blooms. Being involved with Hope Blooms, I feel like I receive more joy by giving back with such a wonderful organization.

Why is giving back in your community important to you?
I feel so good when I give back, and it makes the community better when we’re all helping in the ways we can.

In what ways do you see Hope Blooms bringing value to our community?
Hope Blooms is spreading love, putting smiles on people’s faces and bringing so much joy into the lives of people who are unable to go out into the community as much as others. It’s really special to be a part of something that encourages more kindness in the world.

What’s your favorite way to spread joy and kindness?
I love visiting, smiling and hugging!

What is your favorite flower and why?
I love the spring flowers: tulips, daffodils, crocuses. They are the first signs of spring and bring me a lot of happiness.

Share a little about yourself & your family.
My husband Darwin and I have a blended family with four adult children and 12 grandchildren.
