Community Partner Profile: Britta the Photographer

November 8, 2024 | Written by

Britta Trygstad has been capturing photos around our community for the last 20 years, and for the past 12 years, she’s been known as Britta the Photographer, specializing in business and lifestyle photography.

Since 2021, Britta has partnered with Hope Blooms, generously donating her time and talent to capture moments both in and out of our shop. She’s photographed events like Belles & Blooms, team photos and has documented special moments during our Petal It Forward and Flower Empower events.

We are deeply grateful for Britta’s continued dedication and the beautiful way she helps us tell our story through her photography.

How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve worked professionally as a photographer for nearly twenty years working as a newspaper photographer, wedding photographer, portrait photographer and a commercial photographer. I launched my business Britta the Photographer in 2012.

What do you love most about capturing photos?
I love connecting with those I photograph and making images that reflect their natural awesomeness.

How does Hope Blooms’ mission align with your values?
Delight has always been one of my business’s core values and I honestly believe that a little bit of joy and spontaneity can bring so much to a person’s life. I see this value in action every time I interact with Hope Blooms.

In what ways do you see Hope Blooms bringing value to our community?
The world is full of gloom and doom and we need more lightness and joy. A simple gift of unexpected flowers has the potential of not only changing the course of a person’s day, but has the ability of transforming their outlook on life. It’s magic.

From a community partner perspective, why do you believe in supporting causes like Hope Blooms?
I think the act of everyday kindness can be deemed as not an “important” thing for society. However, even the smallest gesture of kindness can make an impact on the recipient. Kindness begets kindness, which is only great for our community.

Why does feeling seen matter?
We are social beings and we all need, and deserve, being seen in this world.

What’s your favorite way to spread joy?
I’m a big fan of dolling out everyday, genuine compliments. I always make sure to let someone know when I love their hair, their good ideas, their accomplishments or even their mad coffee making skills. It’s better to share those things than keep them bottled up.

What’s your favorite flower and why?
I LOVE Irises! Not only are they pretty rad looking flowers, but they remind me of my great-aunt Iris who had such a zeal for life. Every time I see them, I can hear her saying “Chin up, Britta!”
