How do you spend your time with Hope Blooms?
I spend my time with Hope Blooms as a lead volunteer. I love welcoming people into the space, sharing with them the mission of Hope Blooms, and watching people get creative with the flowers.
What do you love most about Hope Blooms?
I love the mission at Hope Blooms. Reminding people that they matter is so important, especially to the vulnerable in our community. I am a Lutheran pastor and so a part of my life and ministry is reaching out to members of the community who are shut in, homebound, or in care facilities. This is another way I get to do that and it brings me joy, too.
I volunteered at Hope Blooms because I was new to Fargo and wanted to get to know the community. I wanted to create connections and meet people outside of my church and Hope Blooms was a great way to do that.
What value do you see Hope Blooms bringing to our community?
Hope Blooms brings incredible value to the FM area. I’m not a native North Dakotan, so the first time I volunteered I thought, “Every city needs a Hope Blooms. My hometown needs a Hope Blooms!” because there are people in every community who could benefit from a connection point such as this one. Everyone needs a little pick-me-up now and again.
What is your favorite flower?
Dahliahs are my favorite. They are a family favorite and remind me of my dad, who has been gone for 5 years.
