Meet Sue Nilson, Hope Blooms volunteer Joymaker of the month!
Volunteer since: 2019
“Since the day I met Sue, she’s been so delightful, helpful and intentional — all qualities that tie directly back to our values at Hope Blooms,” said Kelly Krenzel, Hope Blooms executive director. “Throughout the years, her connection to our mission has grown in so many beautiful ways, and she has left a lasting impact on our work. Whether she’s processing flowers, making bouquets, delivering joy or simply sharing a laugh with fellow volunteers, Sue shows up with a generous heart and a willingness to help wherever she can. We’re so grateful for the time, kindness and positive energy she shares with Hope Blooms and our community.”
How do you spend your time at Hope Blooms?
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to help in many ways. I’m currently part of the Thursday morning processing team and love the friendships and connections with this group of amazing ladies — some I’ve known for a long time and some I’ve met in the last two years.
I’ve also had the opportunity to be part of many team events where we came together to create flower bouquets, which was always a lot of fun and a great way to spend time together. I’ve helped with Petal It Forward flower deliveries, Flower Empowers and delivering Meals on Wheels.
I enjoy attending events that support Hope Blooms, including Handmade classes. There are so many ways to be involved, and it’s always a joyful time while doing something that makes a difference.
What do you love most about Hope Blooms?
I love the joy Hope Blooms brings to people. There is something so special about knowing that a bouquet of flowers or a simple act of kindness can brighten someone’s day.
I also love the people I’ve met along the way and all the wonderful people I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer with. The friendships, laughter, flowers and time we spend together are what make Hope Blooms so special to me. I’m grateful to be a small part of it.
What value do you see Hope Blooms bringing to our community?
Hope Blooms brings beauty, kindness and connection to our community. The flowers bring BIG smiles and encouragement to people when they need it most. It also gives people an opportunity to come together, volunteer, make connections and give back.
What is your favorite flower?
Tulips
Anything else you’d like to add?
Hope Blooms has SO many amazing volunteers, and I’m so happy to be one of them and able to assist. I feel very fortunate to have been part of Hope Blooms for years. I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve made, the experiences I’ve had and the opportunity to be part of something that brings so much joy and hope to our community.
