Meet Mickie Currier, Hope Blooms June Joymaker of the month!
“I first met Mickie when she dropped off a donation for Petals for a Purpose. We were blown away by the craftsmanship and care put into the beautiful white picked fencing, WOW! When something is needed, Mickie does not hesitate,” said Nicole Pearson, community engagement manager at Hope Blooms. “I’m so grateful for her kindness, guidance and compassion. Mickie is the example of my favorite social work rally quote, ‘When action meets compassion, lives change.’ Thank you, Mickie, for being the spark of action that makes a difference in our world!”
Volunteer since: July of 2025
How do you spend your time at Hope Blooms?
I help process flowers, build bouquets and clean around the shop. I also help lead joymaker volunteer sessions!
What do you love most about Hope Blooms?
The friendships I’ve made are so great! Volunteering at Hope Blooms makes everyone so happy, and I just love getting to work with flowers. It truly adds a boost to your day!
What value do you see Hope Blooms bringing to our community?
It fills a need that has never been filled before. A need people didn’t realize needed to be filled until Hope Blooms started this mission. There’s so many organizations that go about their daily work, but when you bring flowers, it changes the outlook of the whole day. It’s a reminder for people that life can be fun, and that we need to slow down and smell the flowers!
What is your favorite flower?
I have so many, but I would have to say a white rose. I was born in June, so roses are my birth flower, and white to me is clean, fresh and symbolizes hope! I don’t just consider it a wedding flower. I think white roses add so much to bouquets and complements every flower.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I’m just having a blast!
